Description:

Our client’s Emergency Department is one of the busiest in the state of Idaho. The emergency department also boast some of the shortest waiting times in the nation.

Our client is a verified Level III Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma. To receive verification, they had to prove it has the hospital resources needed for trauma care and can provide the entire spectrum of care to meet all of an injured patient’s needs.

As the emergency referral center for the region, our client has the staffing and equipment necessary to provide rapid, life-saving response for a broad spectrum of illnesses and injuries. They consistently deliver the quality, comprehensive care our community has come to expect.

Plans and implements the overall nursing policies, procedures, and services for a unit. Maintains nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training clinical staff. Ensures that nurses are current in competency, assessments, licensure, certifications, and other annual training. May provide direct patient care and is responsible for assessing, planning, and evaluating patients. Generally manages nurses and clinical technicians. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Typically reports to top management. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  1. Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. 
  2. BSN required
  3. Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a charge nurse or other equivalent leadership experience.
  4. ED clinical experience required.
  5. Licensure in the State of Idaho as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).
  6. BLS required from American Red Cross or Healthcare Provider Card from the American Heart Association.

Essential Job Functions (Physical Requirements):

  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function.
  • On feet a minimum of 8-12 hours, depending on length of shift.
  • Frequent stooping, bending, reaching, lifting and pushing heavy equipment up to 35 pounds.
  • Read charts, dials, equipment settings, literature and other printed and handwritten materials.
  • Communicate with patients, physicians, families and co-workers in person, in writing and on telephone.
  • Work with equipment and manipulate equipment settings, computer keyboard, etc.

 

Additional Information:

  • 4 critical care/trauma rooms – not dedicated
  • No field to surgery suite
  • Our ED nurses are trained in trauma resuscitation, but there is not specific specially trained teams.
